The Story

Perennial with bright orange flowers which sprout from fresh green foliage in the summer. Fully hardy throughout the UK, able to withstand temperatures below -20°C.

These bright orange flowers will bring a riot of colour and a splash of sunshine to your garden and are even on the RHS' Plants for Pollinators list. The flowers are almost doubles, with extra ruffles of petals around the central stamen, and grow on stems shooting upwards from bright green scalloped foliage. This plant will die back underground over winter, but don't worry- it will grow back again and bring more bright blooms the following spring!

Perennial
Flower: Bushy growth
May to July

Scientific Name
Geum chiloense (Scent of Chile) 'Sunrise'

Common Name
Grecian Rose, Chilean Avens, Yellow Avens

Deadhead spent flowers to encourage a second bloom in later summer

Wildlife Value
Bees, butterflies and other pollinators

Positioning
Full sun to partial shade.

Water
Keep soil moist, especially when newly planted out; water in particularly dry weather.

Soil
Soil should be well-draining and moderately fertile

Will benefit from fertilising in the growing season, and from the addition of natural fertilisers to the soil, especially if you're growing it in a pot.

Pet-safe?
Yes- no toxicity reported, though it's best for the plant and your pets if they don't nibble too much!

Sprouts Top Tips
Plant into the ground rather than a pot for more buchy and vibrant- and less scraggly- growth.
